A Fresh Wave of Clean Water Hope

By Kian Sadr, Founder & President, SolveWater (Class of ’27, Rye High School)

Hello friends,

I’m Kian Sadr, and as an 11th grader deeply passionate about environmental stewardship, I’m thrilled to share some exciting developments at SolveWater and what lies ahead.

From the beginning, I have believed that one small idea—if acted upon—can create ripples of change across communities and ecosystems. Over the past months, we’ve taken several meaningful steps toward turning our mission to clean up 1 ton of trash into reality:

A Board in Place & Fresh Ideas

I’m honored and beyond grateful to have secured a committed Board of Directors, including Tom Fogarty, whose insight, guidance, and creative thinking have already sparked new ideas and possibilities. His professional experience and passion for impact help me see higher and push harder.

Learning from Local Conservation Leaders

Recently, I had the privilege of meeting Jax Mack, Conservation Director at Friends of Rye Nature Center (FRNC). Jax shared with me the critical role of cleaning up our waterways to protect habitat, prevent pollution, and support healthy ecosystems. That conversation deepened my conviction that our work truly matters.

What’s Ahead: Engagement, Action & Ambition

  • On October 16, you’ll find me at the Rye High School Annual Community Service Fair. Stop by the SolveWater booth, say hello, and feel free to sign up to help with a waterway cleanup event planned for November 1 at the Rye Nature Center.

  • That cleanup is just the start. I’ll be reaching out to other local organizations, schools, and community groups to host more events and grow participation.

  • Our long-term goal is bold: cleaning up one million tons of trash from waterways across our region and beyond. Every bottle picked, every discarded net pulled—counts.

Why This Matters (to me, and to all of us)

  • Youth leadership in action. As a high schooler, this is my chance to show that age is not a barrier to creating impact.

  • Community connection. Working alongside neighbors, schools, and conservation groups strengthens local ties and shared responsibility.

  • Environmental legacy. Clean water underpins all life. Every step we take protects ecosystems, wildlife, and future generations.

I’m deeply grateful for everyone who’s already offered support, advice, and encouragement. And to those I haven’t yet met—whether you’re reading this from Rye or anywhere else—thank you for being part of this mission. The journey is long, but together we can make it meaningful.

See you on October 16 and on November 1!

Let’s roll up our sleeves—and clean our tomorrow.

Warmly,
Kian Sadr
