Everybody Can Do Something — And Together, We Did a Lot!

By Kian Sadr, Founder & President, SolveWater (Class of ’27, Rye High School)

A Big Thanks for Cleaning Up at Rye Nature Center on Saturday, November 1

At Solve Water, we believe every person has the power to make a difference — and that when we join together, that difference becomes meaningful. On Saturday, November 1, one such moment of impact happened at the Rye Nature Center, along the banks of Blind Brook — and you were a key part of it.

The Event & Our Impact

Thanks to your energy, dedication, and care for our local environment, we successfully removed 137 pounds of trash that would otherwise have risked entering the Long Island Sound. That’s 137 pounds of plastic, metal, harmful debris — now out of the watercourse, out of our ecosystem, out of harm’s way.

With this haul, we’ve achieved 6% of our mission to remove a full 1 ton (2,000 pounds) of trash in two years. A milestone worth celebrating.

More Than Cleanup — A Community in Action

What this event made clear is that environmental work isn’t just about removing litter — it’s about connecting as a community. Volunteers of all ages (as young as 2 and as old as my parents) rolled up their sleeves.

  • We smiled and laughed as we filled our bags and walked muddy trails.

  • We enjoyed a beautiful day – just look at the photos!

  • We made new friends!

Share the Story

If you were part of the day, you captured some of these moments — the smiles, the effort, the results. We invite you to view the photo gallery and share your favorite images on your social media channels. Don’t forget to tag the Rye Nature Center (@RyeNatureCenter) and Solve Water (@SolveWater) so we can continue raising awareness together.

What’s Next — Join Us!

This is only the beginning. We’ll be scheduling future clean-ups soon — keep your eye on our channels for updates. If you’d like to organize a clean-up for your workplace, neighborhood, school, or friends, we would love to partner with you.  Reach out, and we’ll work together to plan logistics, promotion, and increase our impact.

Volunteer Hours & Recognition

Need a certificate for volunteer hours? We’ve got you covered. Please record your clean-up by completing this form, and we’ll email your certificate.

Most Importantly…

Thank you. Thank you for showing up, for caring, for acting. Because of you, we proved the simple truth: Everybody can do something — and when we do it together, we can achieve a lot.

Here’s to the next clean-up, the next milestone, the next moment of impact. See you soon.
